what you need

• X11 - its on the third CD in panther, or you might have to download it from here
• Xcode - make sure you also have the X11 headers (X11 SDK)

5 easy steps to make your mac as pretty as linux

1. start X11, set it to full screen (command+option+A to get back)
2. exit X server
3. install window manager of choice. fink and/or pkgsrc might be usefull
4. put window manager in .xinitrc in your home folder
5. restart X server, configure to taste
